Passing Through looms over the main highway leading into Philadelphia, serving as a gateway into the city. Located unsuspectingly along a bend in the freeway, the work’s classical beauty and drama intervene in the daily lives of over 250,000 passersby. It is also the central image of a citywide, altered signage project that features eavesdropped text from 19 sites around the city.
