Greetings from the innovative world of Meg Saligman Studios!
We are excited to share a demonstration of the color change effect that will be used in our new project. The color relationship between the LED lights and paint generate the illusion of vanishing and re-appearing imagery. Thanks to our sponsors and friends for making this possible!

We are now on youtube! This link - Meg Saligman Studios Youtube Channel will take you directly to the Meg Saligman Studios channel. Currently, you can view the exciting, national media coverage of “Fertile Ground.”
In the future, we will be sharing videos of works in progress and all media coverage.
Thank you & enjoy!
Thank you Billy, Sean, & Dan!
With your help the site for the NEW mural…The Many Faces of Nursing…came to life. In the video below, one of the recessed walls is lit from the ground up with LED lighting. The imagery is that of the current mural, which will be replaced with our new project, sponsored by the Independence Foundation and managed by the Mural Arts Program.
This on-site display, allowed us to understand the design elements and possible site limitation. Now, the design can proceed with greater accuracy and enthusiasm.
Sue and James also helped with the exciting events that evening…thanks to you as well!
Stay tuned for weekly video updates…as the documentary of the project, being produced by Studio Manager, Sarah Zimmer, takes shape with each event.

…is getting started on our new project - The Changing Face of Nursing. This project will unite the latest LED lighting technology and a painted mural. The combination of color and light will enable MLS Studios to produce animation within a painted surface. We will continue to draw on the inspirational nature of the nurses we continue to meet and the stories they share. Next Tuesday, July 14th, Billy Hodges will be meeting us on-site to run lighting tests on the actual wall surface. These are illuminating times!

Fertile Ground - The Largest Single Project Mural in the Continental U.S. - Photo: Oxide Design Co., Omaha, NE
Happy 4th of July!!!
Fertile Ground - the largest single project mural in the continental U.S. - is now complete! We returned to Philadelphia this week, filled with gratitude and love for our new friends in Omaha. Special thanks go out to the Fertile Ground project partners, the Peter Kiewit Foundation and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts. We appreciate the hard work and dedication that brought this project to fruition.
The website will be undergoing a series of changes in the coming weeks, in order to bring you the photo and video highlights of Fertile Ground.
Back in Philadelphia, The Changing Face of Nursing continues to evolve. With the help of our support team, the project continue to develop while we were in Omaha. This is an exciting, creative time.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
There are many exciting things happening at the moment, both in and out of the studio.
Studio!!! The new studio is awesome…providing a creative environment for everyone and all. We are now located at 829 Bainbridge…stop by and check it out! Exciting things are coming…
As warmer weather nears, plans are taking shape to return to Omaha. Check in to view the completed work…to be posted in the early summer months.
The Bala House design is emerging, integrating the artwork of the students with the stained glass imagery that appears throughout the existing structure. Thank you Bala House students - I enjoyed working with all of you!
Broad and Vine continues to move forward. The deign will incorporate LED lighting…thanks to Billy & Kevin…sculpture, & paint, to illuminate “The Changing Face of Nursing.” A busy summer is on the horizon, as this project is scheduled to be complete in the early fall.
Peter, the kids, and I are off to Japan this Thursday…be back April 1st!
The sun is shining in Omaha! But the forecast predicts rain, so we were all furiously painting The Wall today.
You can see a little bit of sentiment shining through our tired brushstrokes as the project begins to look complete. We are all dreaming up hayrides and corn-mazes and Sushi Japan dinners before we have to leave. Autumn brings the good light, and we can really see the beauty we are creating when we stand back and stop critiquing ourselves. We are all tired and weary at the end of the day, but still pretty gung-ho about hanging out a bit and sharing some of our quirks with each other, probably just across the warpath (crazy construction on 13th Street) at The Matt(ress Factory) for Boulevards and THE PHILLIES game this Wednesday night. Well, the sun is setting earlier every evening…It is just 7pm and getting dark quick, but we are just trickling in from The Wall, seeing smiles on each other’s faces. This is a good sign. Dinnertime!
Daniel, Meg and Peter Saligman’s youngest, had his birthday bonanza here in Omaha at the Family FUUUUUUUUUUN Center. All he wanted was for all of the artists to play Lazer Tag–so we did! It was an absolute blast. The longest 10 minutes of our lives, running around in the dark with lazer guns and smoke machines and crazy artists in PoLice vests and such, but we got a little exercise and the kids were happy too. Don’t lets forget the arcade games we got to play as well–good ‘ol Skee-Ball and Ski simulator sweetness along with some shots at the snaggle-tooth clowns and a little Nascar racing too. This center is huge. They have it all. Everytime the children would happen down Dodge Street (at least 2 times/day) we would hear the never-ending, monotone drone “FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN.” It is pretty silly.
So we are back in the studio this week, and on The Wall today (before the rain came) hanging sheets of pin-stripe perfection, worn well by the young and stylish face of the Megopolis (Uptown and Downtown makes it qualify, skyscrapers on both sides) named Ralph. We had to have this part of Omaha displayed to make our assortment of figures well representational of the times and the community (where are all the punks, hipsters, hippies, country folk, mohawks, fishnets, and Hindus, Meg?) Anyways, we were hanging him up in the sprinkles. Supposedly it will come down harder a little bit later, and there really isn’t that much studio work to do for all of us, so we might even get to take it easy this afternoon…
So far James is juggling and Keir is dancing to his Afro-Beat while imitating Effrain’s Spanglish. Dave went on home once the music box went on again, and Ella and Travis are most likely playing Skee-Bo somewhere. Meg is eating Mexican and Susan is actually trying to paint. If Nova Color could get our order right, I might join them…
